Aug. 16-17: Outstanding 2-day power saw workshop (two instructors; maximum of 10 participants) at the Harrison Lewis Centre, Sandy Bay, N.S., will provide plenty of hands-on opportunity to learn safe and effective use of a saw including directional felling, plus how to keep your saw working efficiently. First morning all participants receive basic instruction on the saw and its safe use. After lunch half the class will take to the woods felling, limbing, and bucking, while the other half perfects skills pertaining to keeping a saw, bar, and chain in tip-top shape. Next morning the two switch places, team A in the shop, team B in the woods. Following Sunday lunch both teams will gather in the woods for a chance to refresh and hone sawing techniques, winding up the day with a friendly felling competition. $175 +HST covers tuition and four home-cooked meals plus snacks.
