A fun auction was held to raise money for the N.B. Angus Association
to aid in its hosting of the 2008 field day events. Jim Colodey

Angus Board of Directors, was auctioneer.
On Saturday, the Maritime Junior Angus Association and the Board

at Steer Creek Farm, home of Keith Bubar and family.
In the afternoon, there was a show of yearling Angus and Angus
cross heifers by Junior members. This year there were 17 heifers
entered in the show and 21 young people participated in the showmanship
classes. Grand Champion Purebred Heifer was shown by Justin Ford

equal merit and Zion Moffit of New Brunswick and Dakota Nelson

the show there was a semen auction of semen donated by Angus
breeders from all across Canada. All monies raised from this
auction will be divided equally among all Junior participants.
Following the Junior activities, the 2008 Maritime Commercial
Angus Breeder Award was presented to Dale Black and his wife
Lisa and daughters Megan and Ashley of Bloomfield, N.B. They
received the Co-op Atlantic Tender Beef Classic Perpetual Trophy,
the Farm Focus keeper plaque, and monogrammed jackets from the

It was a very successful weekend and the hosts provided an excellent
site for the event. They even went the extra mile of providing
the meat for both the lunch and supper meal. In addition, they
gave each participating Junior a monogrammed camp chair as a
keepsake of their participation in the 2008 show.
